Here’s how you grow an Avocado Tree
Gently clean the seed in water and insert a toothpick at either end. Fill a glass with water and place the seed’s bottom end in the glass, so that the seed is half immersed. Place the glass in the windowsill where it gets plenty of sunlight.
Ensure that the water in the glass is changed once a week. Slowly you will see a seedling emerge from the centre of the seed, plant the seedling in a pot once the leaves emerge and plant the shrub-sized plant into the ground for the tree to take root.
Orchids are flowering plants belonging to the family Orchidaceae, with close to 30,000 recognised species, Vanilla being one of them. While most orchids are tropical, there are 30 species of orchids native to Alaska, 10 times more than Hawaii, which has just 3 species of orchids to call it’s own.
Orchids thrive in soft, diffused morning light and high humidity. They must at all times be protected from harsh, direct sunlight and excess watering. Orchids grown at home do well in a potting medium of pine bark or coconut husk. Do take care to protect Orchids from soil borne infections by placing them at a height from the ground.
